Every year at Easter we take on a special project to help people outside of the church come face to face with the love of God. Sometimes, it has such an impact that we just have to do it again. So, this year we are taking on a two part project again. All the money collected will be divided equally among the projects.
The first project involves feeding students in the Union School District who would normally go through the weekend with very little, if anything, to eat. Every week during the school year children whose families qualify financially are given a backpack with food to take home over the weekend. The food in the backpacks cost an average of $5.50 a week. We want to help them expand the program to help more families every week.
The second part of our project is to assist families attending the Back to School Fair. Every year there are families in our area who are forced to make a choice between sending their kids to school with shoes that fit and putting food on the table. We want to take some of that burden off their shoulders by providing each child registered for the fair a $20 shoe voucher.
Right now all we are asking of you is to pray. Pray that God would lead you in what He would have you give. Then on Easter weekend, bring your gift and place it in the special offering. If you have any questions about this project please feel free to contact the church office.
